The Mobile community is mourning the tragic loss of Cameron Norwood, 40, who died following a devastating pedestrian crash involving an 18-wheeler on Rangeline Road in the early hours of Sunday, June 7.
According to the Mobile Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 2:26 a.m. to the 7400 block of Rangeline Road after receiving reports of a serious traffic incident involving a pedestrian and a commercial truck. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found Norwood suffering from fatal injuries.
Investigators stated that preliminary findings indicate Norwood was walking in a dark, unlit section of the roadway when she was struck by the passing 18-wheeler. Despite rapid response from emergency personnel, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing. Police have also not confirmed whether any charges will be filed.
